Happy Monday!
I’m writing to you at the end of a long day of moving — but I’m officially in a new house! There’s something about moving that signifies a significant change in life. It can be emotional, frightening, exciting, expensive, and a host of other adjectives. At the moment, I’m happy to have a functional bedroom. I hope you all are having a great start to 2023!
Something educational
As a long-time student of education, this is one video that I keep coming back to.
Something about quitting
The Art of Knowing When to Quit is a short article, but it drives a point I’ve been thinking about and discussing for years. I often leave social engagements early to leave people “wanting just a little bit more,” rather than leaving them satiated.
I was discussing the idea with my partner the other day that most shows are doomed to go on until they’re bad. Very few shows say “we did a good job, and despite making preposterous amounts of money, we’re going to stop here.” Usually, shows or movie sequels only stop when they stop producing money.
Something reminiscent
Due to the app craze in the late 2000s and early 2010, you probably heard the phrase, “there’s an app for that.” It was a comment on the zeitgeist of the time that for just about anything, someone had made an app to help out.
Well, here we are in the early 2020s, and we now have “TheresAnAIForThat.com.” While I’ve highlighted a couple of the bigger ones, this website has a lengthy catalog of all the recent AI creations.
Something to play with
I’ve played chess since I was very young and won some early competitions but dropped off in Highschool. That said, I’ve always found myself drawn to anything chess-like, so when I saw FunnyHowTheKnightMoves.com, I promptly dropped a good 30 minutes on it.
Something frozen
I don’t have much information except that it’s an ice tree in Canada. Breathtaking.
Hope you all have a good week, see you next time!
Cheers,
Kerry
